HOT CELEBRITIES: Jennifer Lopez, Oprah, Justin Bieber Top Forbes' Powerful Celebrity 100 List
The Little Monsters aren't going to be happy about this.
On Forbes' 2012 Celebrity 100 list--which ranks the most powerful celebrities working today by examining their 2011 earnings, as well as their "media visibility" and social media reach--Lady Gaga drops down to #5 from her spot atop the 2011 list. Now, according to Forbes, the most powerful A-lister of them all is Jennifer Lopez.

The magazine credits her American Idol judging gig with helping to breathe new life into her career. Since signing on to appear on the reality show in 2010, Lopez, 42, has been able to leverage her new position to land massive endorsement deals with L'Oreal and Gillette, launch a clothing line for Kohl's as well as a popular fragrance, and rack up 6.6 million Twitter followers and 12 million Facebook fans.
Normally a presence in the top three, Oprah Winfrey, 58, ranks number two on the Celebrity 100 list, despite having a tough time getting her OWN network off the ground. (Forbes reports that Winfrey, who raked in $165 million this year, is not earning any money from the floundering cable channel).

Justin Bieber comes in third, thanks to his 21 million Twitter followers, 43 million Facebook fans, $55 million in earnings, and experimentation with venture capitalism. (The "Boyfriend" singer, 18, has invested in tech startups Enflick, Tinychat, and Spotify).
Rounding out the top 10? Rihanna comes in at 4, Gaga at 5, new X-Factor panelist Britney Spears at 6, Kim Kardashian at 7, Katy Perry at 8, Tom Cruise at 9, and Steven Spielberg at 10.

Donna Summer, Grammy-winning and World's Queen of Disco, dies at 63
NEW YORK, N.Y. - Disco queen Donna Summer, whose pulsing anthems such as "Last Dance," ''Love to Love You Baby" and "Bad Girl" became the soundtrack for a glittery age of sex, drugs, dance and flashy clothes, has died. She was 63.
Her family released a statement, saying Summer died Thursday morning and that they "are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy.""Words truly can't express how much we appreciate your prayers and love for our family at this sensitive time," the statement read. She had been living in Englewood, Fla., with her husband Bruce Sudano.
Summer came to prominence just as disco was burgeoning, and came to define the era with a string of No. 1 hits and her beauty queen looks.
Disco became as much defined by her sultry, sexual vocals — her bedroom moans and sighs — as the relentless, pulsing rhythms of the music itself.
"Love to Love You Baby," with its erotic moans, was her first hit and one of the most scandalous songs of the polyester-and-platform-heel era.
Unlike some other stars of disco who faded as the music became less popular, Summer was able to grow beyond it and later segued to a pop-rock sound. She had one of her biggest hits in the 1980s with "She Works Hard For The Money," which became another anthem, this time for women's rights.
Soon after, Summer became a born-again Christian and faced controversy when she was accused of making anti-gay comments in relation to the AIDS epidemic. Summer denied making the comments, but was the target of a boycott.
Still, even as disco went out of fashion she remained a fixture in dance clubs, endlessly sampled and remixed into contemporary dance hits.
Summer, real name LaDonna Adrian Gaines, was born in 1948 in Boston. She was raised on gospel music and became the soloist in her church choir by age 10.
"Love to Love You Baby" was her U.S. chart debut and the first of 19 No. 1 dance hits between 1975 and 2008 — second only to Madonna.
During the disco era she burned up the charts: She was the only artist to have three consecutive double-LPs hit No. 1, "Live and More," ''Bad Girls" and "On the Radio." She was also the first female artist with four No. 1 singles in a 13-month period, according to the Rock Hall of Fame, where she was a nominee this year.
She was never comfortable with the "Disco Queen" label. Musically, she began to change in 1979 with "Hot Stuff," which had a tough, rock 'n' roll beat. Her diverse sound helped her earn Grammy Awards in the dance, rock, R&B and inspirational categories.
Dionne Warwick said in a statement that she was sad to lose a great performer and "dear friend."
"My heart goes out to her husband and her children," Warwick said. "Prayers will be said to keep them strong."
Summer released her last album, "Crayons," in 2008. It was her first full studio album in 17 years. She also performed on "American Idol" that year with its top female contestants.

Atom Egoyan’s new thriller Chloe explores themes of consuming jealousy and passion with a smart European sensibility that puts an exciting spin on the love triangle genre with Amanda Seyfried and Julianne Moore at the center -- their sex scene is a particularly memorable, um, climax. The script was penned by Erin Cressida Wilson, who’s no stranger to sexual kinks. She tackled S&M with aplomb and erotic wit in Secretary, now tackling a subversive story that follows a woman (Julianne Moore) as she hires a prostitute (Amanda Seyfried) to test her husband’s (Liam Neeson) fidelity. As their encounters grow intense, the lines between reality and fantasy blur and unexpected desires are awakened in all three propelling the film to its startling yet inevitable conclusion. We caught up with Amanda Seyfried, Moore, and the filmmakers to talk about sex, manipulation and other bedrocks of a good marriage. Click through for the full Q&A.
On the challenges of the film:
Amanda Seyfried: I almost didn’t want to do the movie. I got really scared and was trying to think of a way to get out of it. I was so intimidated that i didn’t think i could actually do it. I’ve gotten by only playing versions of myself as most young actresses do. It was the best opportunity that’s come up for me and the most complex female character. It was clearly the riskier choice, but it was also the better choice. The risk factor came with that I might not be able to pull it off and also the nudity could potentially create some damage with my American audience.
Amanda Seyfried With Megan Fox:
“Sex scenes are great. A lot of my co-stars have been sexy guys my age, and so, why not? I’m not going to pretend it’s not fun. Justin was great – he had come from doing Friends With Benefits, where he basically had sex every day at work – and so it was easy for both of us.”I think there’s a lot of ladies (and some men of course) who wouldn’t argue with Amanda’s Timberlake argument but it was her statements about her scene with Megan Fox in the film Jennifer’s Body that are really licking up the headlines. The 25-year-old actress was befuddled that no one was interested in seeing the two make out in reference to the fact that the film was primarily a box office failure.
“Jennifer’s Body is my favorite movie that I’ve done. It was overlooked in theatres, but it does have a DVD following. I can’t believe nobody wanted to see Megan Fox and me hitting it. They had an extreme close-up of our tongues, and I’m telling you, the thing about the scene is that it’s actually really sexy.”I have to admit I had no idea that the two were even in a film together, no less making out. I mean I was all over Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis’ steamy scene from Black Swan but somehow this one went way under my radar. Amanda added:
“For a young girl to say that about her own sex scene – it must be because it’s special. I think Megan and I kissed really well together. We have similar kissing styles and it worked. We got it done for the masses, and the masses still didn’t show up.”Well being a diligent researcher I felt it was my responsibility to post the video so you can decide for yourself if you think Amanda and Megan’s tongues were in sweet harmony. This clip has over 6 million views BTW. I really missed the train (adult content, adult language, adult tongue wrestling).

I know what you’re thinking. The Big C is about cancer and a woman dying of cancer so it’s going to be depressing and why would you want to watch a depressing cancer show? That’s exactly the kind of thinking The Big C is here to correct. Life is hard. Sad stuff happens and a better way to deal with it is to address it head on. Humor might be asking a little much of average everyday people but for entertainment it makes it even better.
But if you’re worried about the cancer show being a downer, rest assured that very little of this is about real life depression. Every character has a Hollywood quirk which is not realistic but very entertaining. Underneath all of that is the heart and the wish fulfillment of how we would act if there were no more consequences.
The show even starts out after the diagnosis. You don’t have to go through all the serious stuff Cathy (Laura Linney) would have gone through when she found out. We start when she’s already making changes to her life that will make her final days awesome. Cathy stands up to people, makes irrational purchases and teaches people valuable lessons. Not in a self-righteous way, in a cutting through the crap kind of way.
Linney looks fantastic. Maybe this is inappropriate given the subject matter, but her skimpy bathrobe is enticingly revealing. Her breast pops out twice in the first episode, once in a hospital gown so maybe that’ll make you uncomfortable. When it pops out again in the front yard, that’s hot. You even see nip that time. In episode two she poses naked in front of a stainless steel fridge. That is hot! And it’s tasteful. There are plenty of scenes where they could just show her full frontal but it’s classy.
I imagine by the fourth season Linney will have some cancer makeup so I’m really glad she gets to show off early. Most of her roles go out of their way to make her stringy and mousy. It’s the cancer show that makes her a sexpot? Well, I’ll take it.
The dialogue is clever. It’s snappy to get through establishing who characters are and what plot they’re trying to accomplish. In the most heated moments, they go with absurdity instead of heavy handed drama. Of course they can say the F word since it’s on Showtime.
The show’s addressing of non-cancer issues is sharp too. They have a point of view on extreme environmentalism, obesity and even general housekeeping. It’s real stuff, but with smarter dialogue and people who cut right to the issue instead of passive aggressively avoiding it.
I imagine I’m making this show sound wilder than it actually is. They make some extravagant gestures and do some big stunts, but nothing is outside the realms of possibility. It just feels like the ultimate potential for a human being dealing with a situation and pushing the boundaries of society’s comfort zone.
They had a cry moment at the end of the first episode. It’s still emotional but I buy it. Plus they maybe had to just show that in the premiere so you know it may go there sometimes. But then there’s a support group meeting later on which is so outrageous it’s practically a spoof. And it should be because there is something artificial about it, as much as it does ultimately help people. That episode also gives Linney an angry scene which is the other important end of sad drama.
Anyway, I’m really happy with this show. I can’t wait to see Cathy deal with this every week and getting to go through each minor catharsis without having to have cancer myself. Showtime has done it again.
