Supermodel Cindy Crawford puts a stop to ten-year-old daughter's modelling career: 'She's too young'

Cindy Crawford is putting a stop to her 10-year-old's modelling career because she is too young, it has emerged.
Last month the supermodel's daughter, Kaia was pictured in a thigh-skimming skirt marking her first campaign with Italian fashion house Versace.
But now the 45-year-old has announced that the youngster's modelling pursuits will be put on hold for the next seven years.

Kaia, the daughter of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber,was picked by the label to showcase its childrenswear range, after the launch of the first Young Versace boutique in Milan.
Following in the footsteps of her supermodel mother, who was a muse of the late Gianni Versace, she wore highlights from the designer range which caters to children up to the age of 12.

But despite the widespread use of pre-teen models Cindy Crawford, 45, has expressed her opposition to the growing trend.
She told The Daily: 'At this point, she's too young to pursue a career.

'There aren't even a handful of jobs for a 10-year-old girl.'

However the mother-of-two, who herself was discovered by a photographer aged 16, says it is fine if Kaia wants to pursue modelling later in life.
She added: 'But if she's 17 and wants to try it, of course, what can I say?'
'She kind of jokingly said - I'm not even sure if it was jokingly - 'I might model first because you don't have to know how to do anything, but then I want to be a baby nurse.' '
The recent remarks contradict those made in a previous Versace press release.

Cindy previously stated: 'I'm so thrilled that Kaia was chosen to be part of the first Young Versace Campaign.
'I have so many fond memories of the times I spent with Gianni and Donatella. There is something so very special about the House of Versace.'
She added that she was present throughout the shoot, describing it as a 'fantastic experience'.
'I am so proud of her,' she revealed.
The recent news will come as a blow to Versace's creative director, Donatella Versace, who said Kaia has inherited all of her mother's modelling magic.
She said: 'Like her mother, Kaia has a very special gift. The camera really, really loves her.'
