Paulina Gretzky, the 22-year-old daughter of hockey legend Wayne Gretzky, had dabbled in pop music and acting before finding her true digital media calling: Posting provocative photos on social media.She never became a music sensation, but she became an Internet legend.
As The Chive headline said, above its gallery of 34 scantily clad, cleavage-filled Paulina Gretzky images: "Paulina Gretzky is using the Twitter machine properly."
Properly, perhaps; to the liking of her father, perhaps not.
Paulina Gretzky's Twitter feed has been deleted, and David Graham of the Toronto Star pieces together a timeline that suggests Wayne Gretzky may have encouraged it?
As Gretzky's name was linked last week with the potential sale of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, it's possible the news raised the profile of his daughter's racy online photographs. Her dad was born and raised in Brantford, a far cry from the Hollywood nightlife that has attracted his eldest daughter. Before her Twitter was closed, she tweeted "Having a nice sit down dinner with my dad about social media..haha #SIKEEE (sic)."Yes, as we all know, Wayne Gretzky summarily rejected the Hollywood lifestyle, having never once dropped his stick or unlaced his skates to party during his time in Los Angeles. Alas, the Paulina Gretzky Twitter feed is no more; all we're left with are standing tributes to her social media acumen like "Paulina Gretzky's 77 Sexiest Twitpics" from Coed Magazine.
We were ahead of the Paulina Gretzky curve(s), publishing these now-iconic photos of her golfing in 2009. To see her mature into self-aware digital voyeur bait made us proud. Let's hope this is just Paulina Gretzky retooling her Twitter feed in order to monetize it, and not its Great One-mandated demise. After all, it's winter time, and vacations at the beach beckon.

The pictures that caused an Internet buzz depict the 22-year-old woman in revealing tops, short skirts and bikinis. She is in typical party-girl mode: swooning for the camera, tanning poolside and striking suggestive poses with girlfriends.
